Heading into the playoffs with an undefeated 14-0 district record, the Tatum Eagles expected to go deep into the post-season. And while they did beat the Sabine Cardinals in their bi-district match, the Eagles were stunned on Thursday with a loss to the Mount Vernon Tigers. The Eagles took the first game by a decisive 12-point margin 25-13, but the Tigers rallied and won the next three 25-21, 25-20 and 25-16 to end Tatum’s season. Mount Vernon will advance to the regional quarterfinals to face the winner of the area match between Troup and Prairiland.
