Though Cross Country Season has ended for the Henderson Lions, there has been an update on their team for their final results from the district meet. The last news from the team includes individual reports and a female runner who was able to make it to the Regional Meet for Henderson.
The District Meet for the Highschool team was on October 26, but unfortunately, there were not enough members that day who could participate in the team section of the meet. The individual runners for the male and female individual sections were Andrew Morales, Eric Saurez, Brandon Guevarra, Ashley Rodriguez, and Jordan Williams.
In the male 5k run all of the representatives for Henderson came in under the thirtieth place with their times coming in between twenty and twenty-two minutes. In the female 2 mile run, Williams made it to the finish line with a time of eighteen minutes and 3 seconds to place 31. However, Rodriguez had an amazing run and placed tenth with a time of fifteen minutes and 47 seconds.
Since Rodriguez was able to place in the top ten female individuals, she qualified to go on to the Regional meet in Arlington which occurred November 10 in the early morning. There were a total of 125 female runners that participated in the event and Rodriguez was able to bring pride to Henderson by being one of those runners.
Rodriguez ran the 2 miles in fourteen minutes and 18 seconds, placing 74 out of the 125. Though she did not meet the qualifications for the state meet, she already accomplished quite a feat despite her only being a freshman on the team this season.
This brought the Cross Country season to a close for the Henderson Lions and now these young athletes will grow even more until the next time they set foot on the track.
