The Henderson Lady Lions varsity soccer team conquered the Crocket Lady Bulldogs 8-0 at Jacksonville in the first round of UIL playoffs.
With the win, the Lady Lions remain undefeated in their league record.
Henderson advances to the area championships against the winner of Friday night’s Paris vs. Lindale game. Results from the game were not avaliable as of Friday’s press time.
The area championships will be played at a neutral site on Monday or Tuesday. Details regarding the second round have not yet been announced as of press time.
Going into the bi-district round, the Paris Lady Wildcats hold a 6-2 record and took second place in their district.
The only opponent they share with the Henderson Lady Lions this season was Hallsville. Paris lost that tournament match 1-6. Henderson also lost the tournament match 1-3.
Last season, the Paris Lady Wildcats advanced to the playoffs, but their run was cut short with a tough 2-1 loss to Lindale’s Lady Eagles in the bi-district round.
Meanwhile, the Lindale Lady Eagles hold a 9-3 district record and finished their district play in third place.
Lindale has shared no opponents with the Henderson Lady Lions this season.
Last season, Lindale advanced to the area championship game against the Henderson Lady Lions and fell 1-5.
The Henderson Lady Lions advanced all the way to the regional finals round in the UIL playoffs last season. However, they fell to the Celina Lady Bobcats 1-4. Celina went on to fall to Midlothian Heritage in the state championship game.
