The Overton Lady Mustangs started their ladies' basketball season last week on a rough note. Their first opponent of the season was the Martinsville Pirates in a non-district home game last Tuesday night, where the Mustangs regrettably lost 25-33. 

The Henderson Lady Lions Basketball team won their game last Friday against the mighty Pittsburg Pirates (1-0), bumping up the Lady Lions’ overall to 1-1 before the weekend. The ending score for the night was 66-50, with the Lions taking a sixteen point lead.

The regular season has ended and the playoffs have officially begun for the West Rusk Raiders. With their last game of the district season being a complete and total victory for the team, the Raiders went into their first playoff game with high hopes and determination.

The Henderson Boys Basketball team has their first game of the season this weekend. On Saturday afternoon, the Lions faced off against the Whitehouse Wildcats in a non-district home game. 

The Henderson Ladies Basketball team has officially kicked off their season with their first game against the Hudson Hornets in a non-district home game last Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the Hornets came in looking for a win coming off a previous loss that had bruised their pride. 

Henderson called on host Chapel Hill Friday for a season-ending shot at a playoff berth in 4A-1 Region III District 9. The Lions tied the Bulldogs at 7, 21 and 28 but the latter team gained the upper hand in the closing minutes of the game and Henderson lost 42-28.

 Friday night the Tatum Eagles slammed the Sabine Cardinals 73-17. It was a very physical game. Tatum led 21-7 after one, 38-14 at band time, and 59-17 after three. 

 By the beginning of the third quarter in the West Rusk Raiders versus the Quitman Bulldogs game, it was already clear who the victor of the night was going to be, with a solid lead of 42-0 the Raiders were dominating the opposing team.

In a district clash, the Tatum Eagles (6-1,4-1)  defeated the White Oak Roughnecks (4-2,3-2) 21-7. It was 0-0 after one and 0-0 at the half. It was tied at seven late in the third, but the Eagles scored two unanswered in the fourth for the win. 

The Tatum Lady Eagles (now 24-4) swept the Mineola Lady Jackets in three sets Nov. 2 in the area round of the playoffs in White House, as Abby Sorenson powered the team with 40 assists.

The Henderson Lady Lions volleyball girls played this past Tuesday against the Kilgore Lady Bulldogs in a district home game, where the Lady Lions regrettably lost, 1-3. The Kilgore Lady Bulldogs were a really tough opponent for the Lady Lions that night.

The Henderson Lions had quite a game this past Friday night when they went up against the Athens Hornets. The game was a landslide for the Henderson Lions, with the winning score for the night being 29-0.

BECKVILLE – It took Beckville only three plays to go 75 yards after receiving the opening kickoff and it was an omen of things to come as the Bearcats went on to down Carlisle 34-14 here Friday night in both teams’ District 9-2A opener.

The Henderson Lady Lions faced off against the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs last Friday night in a tough district match. The Lady Lions varsity volleyball girls brought their all to the court that night, securing the win 3-1. 

The Henderson Cross Country team competed last week, with the High school team competing on Friday, Sept. 18, and the Middle school competing on Saturday, Sept. 19. The meet was hosted by Twin Oaks Ranch, in Lindale, for the Van YWAM Invitational.

The Overton Lady Mustang volleyball varsity team celebrated a win this week on Tuesday night where they went head-to-head with the Union Hill Lady Bulldogs in a district home game. In a stomp yard of a game, the Mustangs secured the win that night with a score of 3-0.

The Tatum Lady Eagles volleyball girls swooped down with their talons out, ready to rip into the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets late Tuesday afternoon in a district away game. The match ended up going into overtime with four sets. The Lady Eagles dominated out on the court, winning the match 3-1.
