On Saturday morning, the Henderson Lions helped Henderson METRO church pass out boxes of Thanksgiving dinners to families in need. According to Henderson METRO’s Facebook page, 204 Thanksgiving dinner boxes were handed out.

The Rusk County Recreational Association’s sophomore youth football team won the Tri-County Youth Football Alliance’s 2021 Super Bowl Championship on Saturday in Pittsburg. The team won 12-6 against the East Texas Longhorns.

West Rusk’s Lady Raiders (2-1) fell short 21-46 in Tuesday’s home non-district basketball game against Gladewater’s Sabine Cardinals (4-0).

The undefeated West Rusk Raiders  returned to the gridiron at 7 p.m. Friday night at the Driskell Stadium in Crockett, TX to battle against the New Waverly Bulldogs for the area championship title. Results were not avaliable as of press time.

Not a single seat was left on Tatum’s side of the stands as the Lady Eagles swept 3-0 in Thursday’s area playoff game against De Kelb. The Lady Eagles will advance to the regional quarterfinals next week.

Emotions ran high Friday night as the Henderson Lions fell short 14-32 to the Chapel Hill Bulldogs in their last game of the season. As a result, penalties proved to be rather detrimental to the Lions.

Mount Enterprise’s Delisha “Dede” Davis (middle) ran in the Regional Cross Country meet in Huntsville, TX on Oct. 25, winning 2nd place in Region 3-2A division out of 168 competitors. She will advance to the state meet on Saturday.

TATUM - The Tatum Eagles, 6-1 (2-1), held off a determined Atlanta Rabbit team 30-20. The Rabbs came in without a victory, but they sure did not play that way. 

The Henderson Lions fell 28-38 to Palestine at Friday night’s out-of-town game after being ultimately outmatched on both sides of the ball. This bumps the Lions down to 1-2 in the district and 4-3 overall.

The Laneville Yellowjacket cross country team brought home many awards at their district meet on Wednesday. The varsity boys’ team placed second overall and qualified for the regional competition in Corpus Christi on Monday.
