Mr. Herbert Allen Doss II, 55, of Henderson, passed from this life on August 15, 2021, at his residence. He was born September 4, 1965, in Longview and has spent most of his life in East Texas with the exception of a few short years in Conroe. Allen graduated from Carlisle High School in 1984 and went on to attend and graduate from the Police Academy, received his EMT certification, and became a firefighter for Overton. He most recently worked in security for Anadarko in Conroe.
Allen was an avid reader, loved all kinds of music and even owned a guitar of which he was very knowledgeable. He also thoroughly enjoyed war history, especially that of the Civil War. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when he could and loved live theater, namely Les Miserables. Allen was a huge fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football, Duke basketball, and the legendary Chicago Bulls. When he was able, Mr. Doss also attended New Life Tabernacle in Carlisle.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jettie Motley and Staff Sergeant Yhon Summeral Ellzey; and uncles, Gary Hanks and Rade Arnold.
Survivors include his wife, Jana Custer of The Woodlands; mother, Elizabeth Doss of Henderson; children, Stephanie Doss of Atlanta, Lisa Parks and husband Josh of Gladewater, Michael Doss of Henderson, and Rebekah Doss of Lindale; cousin, Candy Carson and husband Jesse of Henderson who were like the sister and brother Allen never had; grandchildren, Carlii, Stevin, Myles, Kylie, D.J., and Logan; fur babies Daisy and Peanut; as well as a host of other family and many friends.
A celebration of life for Mr. Doss will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at New Life Tabernacle in Price with Bro. James Boatman and Rev. Randy Hennigan officiating.
