Wingo

Funeral services for Mr. Ed Wingo, 64, of Henderson, were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at Crawford - A. Crim Funeral Home with Dr. David Higgs, Rev. Mike Ledbetter, and Cody Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Jacksonville.

The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 at the funeral home.

Mr. Wingo passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2020 at his residence. 

He was born March 30, 1955 in Charleston, West Virginia to Carson and Marie Atkins Wingo. 

He served his country in the United States Coast Guard for five years. While he was in the Coast Guard, he served in the Presidential Honor Guard for President Ford. He then went to Elizabeth City, North Carolina for Aviation School. After completing his aviation training, Ed and Carol chose to go to Kodiak, Alaska where he served in Search and Rescue for The United States Coast Guard. Ed then began a career at Luminant, where he retired as a Foreman in the Luminant Train Department. Ed was also a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Marie Wingo; sisters, Sue Winders, Carlene Wingo Brannan; and mother-in-law, Sarah Lucille Roberts.

Survivors include his wife of forty five years, Carol Roberts Wingo of Henderson; father-in-law, Edward R. Roberts of Jacksonville; daughters, Krissy Sefa and husband Tim of Henderson, Kacy Kersh and husband Clayton of Henderson; six grandchildren, Hannah Sefa, Josh Sefa, Lucy Sefa, Kinsey Kersh, Karley Kersh, and Kaclyn Kersh on the way; brother-in-law, Rob Roberts and wife Lisa; special niece, who was more of a sister, Laurie Magee; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tim Sefa, Clayton Kersh, Josh Sefa, Kent Brummett, Garry Parton, Steve Alford, A. L. Layne, David Crow, Jimmy Nelson, and Andy Shelton.
