Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Furguson, 71, of New London, were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020 in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Thompson officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
The family did receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 16, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Furguson passed from this life on October 14, 2020, at Christus Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler. She was born September 6, 1949, in Overton to the late Robert and Bennie Lou (Pettiet) McAdoo and lived most of her life there. Mrs. Betty graduated from Overton High School and later worked for West Rusk I.S.D. for over 30 years, retiring as Food Service Director. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as Sunday School teacher and youth choir director for many years at her church, Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Robert McAdoo; and grandparents, Sam Ben and Hazel Pettiet.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Rodger Furguson of New London; sons, John Furguson and wife Christy of Crescent, Oklahoma, and Steve Furguson and wife Sherry of Kilgore; sisters, Linda Gale Thompson and husband Kent of New London, and Mary Jane Kyle and husband Lynn of Sabine Pass; grandchildren, Elizabeth Williams, Cassidy Seider, Heather Carranza, Lucas Furguson, Morgan Wilson, Pamela Miller, and Meagan Furguson; great-grandchildren, Layton, Eli, Ty, Isabelle, Grayson, Adien, Ava, and Braxton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Fuguson, Randy Furguson, James Furguson, Jason Welchel, Eric Kyle, and Jimmy Cumplido.
