The Henderson ISD school board named Dr. Thurston Lamb, Jr. the lone finalist in their search for a new superintendent on Tuesday evening.
Lamb, who currently serves as Director of Schools in Duncanville, is expected to attend the April 17 board meeting, when the board will formally hire him.
“He was truly an outstanding candidate,” said Board President Jamey Holmes at the close of Tuesday’s meeting. “He will bring a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm to our campus.”
Trustee Jean Williams, who along with Holmes and fellow trustee Jon Johnston visited Duncanville ISD Monday, said she was very excited about the choice.
“The term that stood out was, ‘Dr. Lamb is consistent.’” said Williams discussing the visit. “Who you see is who you get, consistently. About every decision, he asked how it impacted the students.”
“It’s all about the kids,” added Johnston. “He said it a hundreds times. The leadership team in Duncanville said he would be the hardest to replace.”
Lamb has worked in the DeSoto, Crowley and Plano school districts and is a former United States Marine.
Lamb will fill a vacancy left by Keith Boles who is retiring at the end of the school year.
“I am honored to be named the lone finalist for the superintendent position in Henderson ISD,” Lamb said. “I look forward to being a Lion.”
