The red, white and blue, parades, barbecues and fireworks will keep the celebration alive as Rusk County will host a variety of events for Independence Day.
The City of Henderson will host its annual Independence Day Celebration July 4.
Start celebrating of the holiday with a 10 a.m. parade sponsored by Keep Henderson Beautiful in downtown Henderson. Everyone is welcome to participate and line up will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church parking lot.
Following the parade, a dedication will take place at the construction site of the new Lake Forest Park Plaza. KHB will be hosting this event, as well. Contributors to the plaza are invited as well as the public. A hamburger lunch will be available to those in attendance.
The celebration will continue at 5 p.m. and will end with a fireworks display.
The celebration is free of charge and will include a water slide and bounce houses.
Food vendors will also be selling corn on the cob, pupusas, sausage-on-a-stick, brisket sandwiches, hot dogs, turkey legs, funnel cakes, corn dogs, nachos, fried oreos, snow cones and drinks.
Live music will also be pro- vided by Lee Mathis and The Brutally Handsome Band from 6-9 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Shade canopies are also welcome in the park.
Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.
