Deputies from Rusk Sheriff’s Office, Henderson-based Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, and Henderson Fire Department firefighters responded Thursday morning to a collision involving a truck and a bicycle, resulting in the death of a man on U.S. Highway 79 South, just south of Loop 571.
DPS officials say they were still investigating the wreck as of press time Thursday. More details will be available in Friday’s Henderson Daily News.
A 61-year-old bicyclist was the latest fatality victim on a Rusk County roadway Thursday morning.
Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that Michael Steven Manili of Denver, Colo., died from injuries after being struck by a passing vehicle on U.S. Highway 79 South, just west of Loop 571 outside the Henderson city limits.
