The sweltering days of Summer are upon us. For some of our friends and neighbors, this time of year has potential to be life-threatening. Remember that our summer temperatures can be dangerous to the very young and the elderly, disabled and house bound. Each year an average of 658 people pass away as a result of extended exposure to extreme heat.
With this staggering statistic in mind, the good people of Cato Fashions and Henderson Interchurch Ministry have, once again, teamed up to collect fans for those in our community who, either, don’t have one or can’t afford one on their own. They completed their fan drive last year with total donations of 69 fans. The goal this year is a meager 75 fans. With the help of the generous people of Henderson and the surrounding area this goal could be so quickly met.
The donations will be given to Rusk County residents through HIM. Residents have to give perosonal information to HIM before receiving food or any other donation from the non-profit.
Fans, and other donations, can be dropped off at Cato Fashions in the Henderson Plaza Shopping Center anytime between now and the end of June.
