According to reports provided by the Department of State Health Services, along with information provided by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, estimated active cases within Rusk County dropped significantly to 73.

The Department of State Health Services reports a total of 1,076 positive cases within the county, an increase of 17 from the 1,059 last reported with a recovery total of 974. The cumulative testing total for the county stands at 10,313. Rusk County’s fatality total remained at 29.

Total confirmed cases within the state are at 993,841 with a testing total of 9,033,217. COVID-19 related deaths in Texas stand at 19,147, a bit of an increase from the previously reported 18,743. The estimated number of patients who have completed all treatment and quarantine protocols and are considered recovered stands at 838,950, yet another solid increase from the 820,215 last reported. DSHS continues to report COVID-19 fatality data based on death certificates. Under this current policy, the newly reported fatalities lie at 143 for the state, as of Thursday, November 12.

TDCJ continues to report no active offender cases within East Texas Treatment Facility but a small spike of cases within Billy Moore Correctional Center as they report four active diagnoses. Within ETTF and BMCC, 139 total offenders are considered recovered. ETTF reports two active employee cases while BMCC reporting four employees testing positive for COVID-19, while a total of 35 from both units are listed as recovered. ETTF reports having 83 offenders in medical isolation and none on medical restriction, while BMCC shows 244 in isolation with four on medical restriction.

TDCJ reports that 232,497 offenders and 83,341 employees have been tested, all across the state, with 25,664 offenders and a total of 5,971 staff members having tested positive and 22,373 offenders and 5,046 staff members listed as recovered. Active offender diagnoses have increased dramatically from 1,019 to 2,251. Active employee cases rose to 836 from the last report’s 706. Confirmed COVID related deaths within correctional facilities across the state remained 62, while those presumed to be COVID related dropped to 98, with an additional 47 pending cause of death investigations. TDCJ reports 11 units on precautionary lockdown. The presumed employee death total rose to 22 throughout state facilities.
